TROY is hiring a Toner Material Scientist for our Research & Development department to design, test and scale new MICR and security toners that become TROY intellectual property. This is an entry-level-eligible role: recent graduates in chemistry or engineering are encouraged to apply, and we will train you on toner science.
TROY Group develops and manufactures MICR and security printing solutions that protect documents from fraud. Our Wheeling, WV team formulates and produces specialty toners in-house, so R&D work moves from the lab bench to production scale-up under one roof. You will see your formulations become real products.
Apply chemistry and process knowledge to design new MICR, security, and specialty toners. Run lab batches, iterate on resin, magnetic oxide, charge control agent, wax and additive choices, and build TROY intellectual property.
Analyze physical and chemical properties of OEM toner, lab batches, production batches, and finished goods: particle size, melt index, charge/resistance, DSC/TGA, rheology, and FTIR. Run print testing and interpret results.
Support lab-to-production scale-up in collaboration with Production and Quality Assurance, including on-site participation in production trials. Release new products under ISO-compliant procedures through the ERP system (formulas, BOMs, work instructions).
Write reports on methods, results, and conclusions; recommend next steps. Present progress to R&D leadership and cross-functional teams.
