The Role
The Toledo Complex includes both the Huntington Center and the Glass City Center. This position provides operational support across both venues. A Cook is responsible for the food preparation, execution and delivery of safely handled food to the customer‑facing employees for service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a friendly, positive attitude and a professional demeanor at all times.
- Report for scheduled event on time and report to assigned area in a timely manner.
- Fulfill the assigned opening and closing duties.
- Report to direct supervisor for prep lists and timelines of the day’s tasks.
- Carry out assigned tasks in a timely and safe fashion using correct recipes.
- Constantly maintain walk‑in coolers, reach‑ins, dry storage and all work areas.
- Have extensive knowledge of all menus being offered, including specials.
- Communicate with Supervisors, Attendants, Runners, Chefs and Legends Management.
- Work as a team with fellow associates and other service departments within the venue.
- Show attention to detail that will exceed expectations.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and orderly setting within the kitchen.
- Complete closing duties and checkout with manager/supervisor.
- Know the layout of the kitchen and back‑of‑house area, including the nearest First Aid office, bathroom, and staircase, and be able to direct staff and guests to their designation.
- Be aware of other food and beverage outlets within the venue.
- May be re‑assigned to a different location in certain situations based on the venue’s needs.
- Work a flexible schedule to meet service demand levels, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; degree or certificate in culinary arts preferred.
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience working in a fast‑paced restaurant, caterer or other relevant food service area.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, organized and able to prioritize as needed.
- Clean, constantly aware of sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change quickly.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Ability to read and retain information such as recipes, prep lists, menus and signage.
- Performs simple mathematical calculations.
- Works well with others in a stressful environment.
- Moves quickly and acts on assigned duties.
- Maintains personal hygiene and a well‑groomed appearance.
- Can walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time.
- Lifts (at least 30 pounds), carries items, pushes carts, walks at a fast pace, and bends down.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, professional kitchen in close quarters to fellow workers.
Physical Demands
- The employee is regularly required to move around the facility, stand for long hours during events, and talk and hear.
- The position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
- Must perform strenuous physical duties, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
- Must stand and work on feet for 8–10 hours a day.
- Must stretch and reach.
- Climbs ladders and works from heights as necessary.
