Job summary

YWCA Greater Los Angeles seeks an early childhood professional to provide age-appropriate curriculum delivery and leadership in a child development program. You will oversee infant and toddler activities, guide behavior with supportive approaches, and supervise teachers to ensure quality experiences for young children.

Responsibilities include planning activities, coordinating paperwork, and collaborating with the Site Director to maintain program standards and health practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 units in Early Childhood Education including core courses.
• Possession of current Teacher permit to the standards of the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
• 1 year experience working with children in a group setting.
• TB clearance within the last 12 months and retesting every two years as required.
• Minimum of 15 hours of training in preventive health practices including pediatric CPR.
• Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
• Ability to sit on floor, bend, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time.
• Evidence of a successful Health Screening yearly as required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in curriculum planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities.
• Facilitate and/or supervise curriculum activities for positive learning experiences.
• Set and maintain appropriate behavior standards using non-punitive methods.
• Work with infants and toddlers applying best practices for care.
• Nurture self-esteem, trust and growing autonomy in children.
• Assist supervision of Associate and Assistant Teachers when Lead Teacher or Site Director is absent.
• Identify children with special needs and report to Site Director.
• Provide input on needed program supplies and materials.
• Cooperate with flexible hours between 7:00am and 5:30pm.
• Potty train as needed.
• Oversee DRDP, anecdotal notes, meal counts and attendance paperwork.
