Job summary

The Schenectady Jewish Community Center (Schenectady JCC) is seeking an Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in a safe, nurturing, learning-centered room for children from birth to age three. You will help implement routines, facilitate experiences, and contribute to a positive classroom community.

Responsibilities include social-emotional growth, language and cognitive development, and documentation of activities with families.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of 1 year of paid or volunteer experience working with children.
• Interest in working with young children, parents, and volunteers.
• Ability to work well with a team and communicate effectively (written and oral).
• Familiarity with NYS OCFS regulations is preferred; NYS OCFS clearance required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsive, individualized care supporting each child's needs.
• Build nurturing relationships to promote security, trust, and belonging.
• Support children's social-emotional development through positive interactions.
• Assist with daily care routines: feeding, diapering, toileting, sleeping, dressing, hygiene.
• Maintain active supervision and safety in the classroom.
• Support curriculum and learning experiences planned by the Lead Teacher.
• Document children's learning with photos, observations, and work samples.
• Collaborate with the team and participate in planning discussions.
