NOW HIRING: Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Coordinator

(Full- Time Position)

The Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coordinator contributes to the advancement and/or improvement of the health of Central Ohioans through increased local tobacco prevention and education efforts, including outreach to youth and communities about vaping. This position will work with communities and stakeholders in increasing and improving tobacco prevention policies. This position will be the coordinator of the Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation grant through the Ohio Department of Health.

Duties Include:
  • Leads implementation and evaluation of a community -based prevention and cessation programs that focus on tobacco product usage. Serves a role in local tobacco-prevention-related coalitions, regional tobacco initiatives or groups, and state level tobacco coalition groups. Participates in Tobacco-Free Ohio Alliance (TFOA) Meetings.
  • Coordinates and administers the Tobacco Retail Licensing program for FCPH contract cities and facilitates compliance of the Tobacco 21 program in those cities.
  • Works with the agency’s harm reduction staff to promote harm reduction education for tobacco products.
  • Manages a community network system of existing service providers to offer essential cessation services to residents. Assists in identifying local health resources that could be mobilized to improve prevention and cessation activities.   • Assists in identifying local health resources that could be mobilized to improve prevention and cessation activities. Coordinates with writing, editing, and collecting documentation to assure full compliance with the Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation grant including deliverable outcomes.
  • Assists with identifying and recommending grant expenditures. Prepares submission of State and/or Federal grants as appropriate and is responsible for managing program budget, reporting and grant requirements.
  • Assists in developing marketing plans with Public Information Officer and Communications Department to promote tobacco cessation and prevention efforts. Utilizes appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, health education, social work, or related field
  • Two (2) years related experience including grant writing, grants management, and public speaking.
  • Ohio Driver’s License
  • Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS) or certification may be obtained upon hire.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.

Hiring Salary: $25.78/hour - $29.65/hour. This is a non-exempt position.
