Job summary

LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is seeking a Tobacco Treatment Specialist to coordinate the Tobacco Control Initiative across specified hospitals. You will ensure system- and provider-level changes, engage smokers, and enroll participants in cessation services.

Responsibilities include coordinating program operations, training clinicians, and implementing evaluation plans to measure impact across regions 2 and 9 (Baton Rouge, Bogalusa, Independence).

Qualifications

• Required Education: Bachelor's.
• Required Field of Study: Behavioral sciences, social work, public health, health education, counseling, or related field.
• Number of years required to perform the job: One to Three years of work experience.
• Type of experience required to perform the job: Tobacco Treatment Specialist/Smoking Cessation Counselor, Addiction Counselor, or tobacco outreach program experience.
• Substitution: Master's degree can substitute two years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Tobacco Control Initiative program in assigned hospitals within region 2 and 9 (Baton Rouge, Bogalusa, Independence, LA).
• Train health care providers to address/treat tobacco use and dependence and ensure system, provider, and consumer interventions.
• Identify, educate, refer, and enroll participants in cessation services; follow up and monitor progress.
• Develop mechanisms to identify, track, monitor, and report on participants and outcomes.
