Job summary

Helen Keller Services (HKS) seeks a DeafBlind Employment Specialist to provide one-on-one and group employment-focused services in the Southeast region, based in Tennessee. You will work with consumers, families, and local partners to achieve competitive employment outcomes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with VR agencies, development of IPEs, and outreach to educate stakeholders about HKNC programs and services. A bachelor’s degree and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, special education or a closely related degree with three to five years of experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency required including FileMaker Pro, Outlook, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Certification in good standing with emphasis in employment services (ACRE and/or CESP) preferred.
  • Familiarity with the designated state’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services Agencies.
  • Fluency in communication methods used by people who are DeafBlind (ASL and sign language in English word order).

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and group-based employment-focused direct services to consumers in the designated state.
  • Collaborate with local service providers and community partners to implement IPE.
  • Assist with outreach to educate VR personnel about HKNC programs and services.
  • Support consumer transitions back to home communities after on-campus training.
  • Coordinate with HKNC Vocational Services to implement best practices in the state/region.
