Job summary

Helen Keller Services seeks a DeafBlind Rehabilitation Specialist to provide employment-focused vision rehabilitation and independent living training across North Central Region 5. The role emphasizes collaboration with families, caregivers, medical providers, and VR partners to advance independence and employment goals.

Required is a Bachelor’s degree in vision rehabilitation therapy or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience, plus current CVRT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in vision rehabilitation therapy or related field; 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Current CVRT certification in good standing.
• Experience serving DeafBlind or related populations, including independent living, low vision, and assistive technology.
• Experience coordinating with families, caregivers, medical providers, and interdisciplinary teams as appropriate.
• Strong communication, consultation, presentation, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide employment-focused vision rehabilitation, independent living, low vision, and assistive technology services across North Central Region 5.
• Deliver one-on-one and group services in home, community, work-site, training, or virtual settings.
• Collaborate with VR partners, centers for independent living, schools, and employers to support employment goals.
• Develop individualized training plans integrating employment goals and low vision strategies.
• Train consumers in the use of low vision devices, lighting, contrast, and adaptive tools for home and work.
• Maintain timely case notes, assessments, training plans, and progress reports.
• Provide outreach and technical assistance to strengthen regional capacity related to DeafBlind services.
