Job summary

Lockwood STEAM Academy Elementary in Oakland is seeking an Early Literacy Reading Tutor for the 2026-27 school year. The role is 6 hours per day (.80 FTE) and focuses on TK–2 literacy development.

You will collaborate with classroom staff and coaches, deliver data-driven instruction, and record progress in an online database. This is a part-time, non-exempt role with immediate start and duties aligned to SIPPS and targeted literacy strategies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Fluent English in reading, writing and speaking.
• Ability to use online database systems and email daily.
• Energetic, results-oriented, student-focused.
• Must be 18 years old or older.

Responsibilities

• Attend trainings and meetings with coaches.
• Provide reading instruction for TK–2.
• Record student progress and program data weekly.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan the instructional schedule.
• Use data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
