Job summary

Triumph Geared Solutions is seeking a Hydraulic/Pneumatics Technician for the Maint Facilities team in Michigan. The role oversees maintenance of production machinery, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, and building facilities including wastewater and energy management.

The technician coordinates maintenance plans, guides staff, and ensures safety, quality, and adherence to schedules. Strong knowledge of CAD and OSHA standards is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Specialized post-secondary education or journeyman-level certification in electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance; lean concepts helpful.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance environments is required.
  • Knowledge of facility engineering principles, OSHA standards, and use of CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, buildings, and facility structures.
  • Review data on equipment specifications and permitting requirements; ensure safety and schedules.
  • Inspect contractor work to ensure conformance to drawings and cost-efficient strategies.
  • Lead energy conservation programs and drive cost-reduction measures through data analysis.
  • Provide guidance and performance management to maintenance staff; conduct department meetings.

Hydraulic/Pneumatics Technician, Maint Facilities

Location: Macomb, MI, 48042

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician at Triumph Geared Solutions is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of maintenance department personnel. The role oversees installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of production machinery, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities also include building maintenance such as wastewater treatment, machine & equipment repair, plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and contract maintenance projects involving building facilities, equipment, and machinery. The Technician may monitor environmental and energy management programs and transfer information between shifts to meet production requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate planning, design, reconfiguration, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and facility structures.
  • Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, applicable company or government restrictions and/or permit requirements, required completion dates, and construction feasibility.
  • Inspect or direct the inspection of contractor services, construction, and installation projects to ensure conformance to drawings, specifications, schedules, and safety considerations.
  • Formulate and recommend changes in facilities management systems and procedures; coordinate energy conservation programs and collect data to support cost‑reduction measures.
  • Provide guidance toward solving work‑related problems and applying acceptable performance and quality standards; establish and maintain effective controls.
  • Train and develop employees; recommend personnel action and apply performance management techniques to ensure positive employee relations.
  • Ensure proper use of machinery, tools, and equipment when required.
  • Lead and motivate employees toward participation in product improvement and cycle‑time reduction programs; conduct regular department meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working area; monitor, report, and resolve unsafe conditions.
  • Assist in preparation and management of department budgets within established guidelines.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements, including environmental, safety, and EEO/AA regulations.
  • Electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks, including but not limited to HMI/PLC setup, backup creation, servo motor replacement, troubleshooting industrial equipment, and performing preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Specialized post‑secondary education in business, engineering, or a journeyman‑level certification in an electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance trade; knowledge of lean concepts is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the job, typically acquired through eight or more years of related experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Basic understanding of machining, sheet metal fabrication, vacuum furnace and salt brazing; familiarity with precision TIG welding is preferred.
  • Knowledge of facility engineering principles, industry practices, regulations, and policies, including OSHA and unified building and electrical codes.
  • Ability to apply continuous improvement methods and techniques; use of standard business software and specialized systems such as CAD.
  • Ability to work on moderate‑scope, complex problems requiring thorough analysis and impact assessment.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for team members, leaders, and senior management.
  • Electrical qualifications, including interpretation of drawings, code specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, and complex electrical wiring diagrams.
Electrical Qualifications (examples)
  • Interpret drawings and electrical code specifications for industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Understand electrical wiring diagrams and schematics; identify basic electrical symbols and read schematic diagrams.
  • Interpret complex electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, carry, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to focus.
  • Able to walk and stand on concrete surfaces for significant periods during the workday.
