Job summary

St. Mary's County Public Schools is seeking a Non-Public Tutor to provide targeted small-group instruction in reading and mathematics for identified Title I students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade attending non-public schools.

This is a temporary, hourly role designed to support equitable access to high-quality educational support services. This position requires collaboration with non-public school staff, progress monitoring, and timely reporting to Title I, with ongoing

Qualifications

• Hold a Maryland professional teaching certificate in Elementary Education.
• Meet the qualifications for "Highly Qualified" status.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective instruction in reading and mathematics.
• Ability to differentiate instruction based on diverse student needs and abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver small group academic interventions.
• Collaborate with non-public school teachers to develop remediation plans for students.
• Design and implement engaging instructional activities.
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress; maintain accurate records.
• Submit Title I documentation and progress reports according to guidelines.
• Maintain communication with parents, Title I staff, and non-public school personnel.
• Serve as a liaison between non-public school representatives and the SMCPS Director of Supplemental School Programs.
• Attend required workshops and staff meetings related to Title I services.
• Assist with procurement of Title I instructional materials.
• Ensure compliance with all Title I regulations and reporting requirements.
