Job summary

Southwest Licking Local Schools is seeking a dedicated Title I Paraprofessional to support teachers and students at Etna Elementary & Kirkersville Elementary. You will provide individualized and small-group instruction to boost reading, writing, and mathematics achievement under direct supervision of a licensed teacher.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree or two years of college, an Ohio ESEA Educational Aide certificate, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Have obtained at least an associate's degree or completed two years of college or higher education.
• Qualified per state standards for reading, writing and mathematics instruction support.
• Ohio ESEA Educational Aide certificate as issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
• High school graduation.
• Ability to communicate with others.
• Ability to maintain supervision over students.
• Other qualifications as the district may deem appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring for eligible students during times when the teacher would not be instructing the student.
• Assist with classroom management and organizing instructional materials.
• Provide support in a library or media center.
• Act as a translator when needed.
• Provide instructional services under direct teacher supervision; follow the teacher-planned activities and assess student progress.
• Perform limited duties beyond classroom instruction as assigned, and maintain confidentiality of student files.
• Assist students in cafeteria, playground, and other non-classroom locations.
• Model calm behavior and supervise students appropriately.
