Job summary

Parchment School District is seeking an Aides to provide academic support in small groups during the Intervention/Enrichment period, under the guidance of classroom teachers or instructional coaches. Work focuses on identified at-risk students using multiple assessment data points.

The role involves tutoring in reading and mathematics, preparing instructional materials, monitoring progress, and helping create a welcoming classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and substantial college coursework or an associate degree.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
• Experience with children in an educational setting is desirable.

Rate: $15.00-$22.69 DOQ

SUMMARY

Title Aides provide academic support designed to broaden, extend and deepen the learning experience for identified at-risk students. This support is provided to students in flexible, small groups during the Intervention/Enrichment instructional period, under the direction of the classroom teacher or instructional coaches. Students receiving this support are determined by the classroom teacher, and multiple assessment data points.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); Obtain an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution; or Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas:
• Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
• Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
• Basic proficiency in using technology and education software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist classroom teachers in delivering instructional support to students in reading and/or mathematics.
