Job summary

Mount Vernon School District is seeking a Paraeducator – Migrant/Bilingual at Mount Baker Middle School in Mount Vernon, WA. The role provides skilled support to the Program Teacher/ESL Facilitator, assisting designated bilingual or migrant students.

Work year is 180 days at 6.75 hours per day with 2.75 hours of supervision; requires AA degree or equivalent, and bilingual abilities are preferred. Union shop applies, with pay processes via the Personnel Office.

Qualifications

• AA degree or higher, or two years of college (72 quarter credits), or ability to meet State standards in reading, math and writing.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish/English or Russian/English preferred and/or may be required depending on assignment.
• Ability to communicate with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Participate in training to preview and review skills and concepts.
• Work with students one-on-one and in small groups to assist with mastery of skills and concepts.
• Assist with language proficiency assessments and migrant program administration.
• Maintain student files, send letters to parents, and coordinate schedules with teachers.
• Assist in preparing migrant program withdrawal information and testing.
• Maintain required records and student counts and monitor test scores.
• Attend Migrant/Bilingual staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
