Job summary

DeKalb County School District is seeking a Title I Paraprofessional for Jolly Elementary. The role involves assisting teachers, supporting students with IEPs, and delivering small group or one-on-one instruction to promote high academic expectations.

The position is funded for one year, ending no later than June 30, 2027. Candidates must apply for available positions and be recommended for continued employment for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Or an associate degree or higher from a Georgia PSC-approved college or university.
• Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours with GPA 2.0 or higher from a PSC-approved college or university.
• A valid PSC-approved paraprofessional certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists students with personal care needs per IEP under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Supports daily health-related care needs as trained and authorized, aligning with IEP and district guidelines.
• Assists with health care procedures and medications as needed for daily care, per policy.
• Provides small group and/or individualized instruction according to lesson plans.
• Monitors students before/after school and during non-instructional transitions.
• Assists teachers with classroom management to maintain an effective learning environment.
• Assists with assessment of student performance and recordkeeping tasks.
• Assists with development and organization of instructional materials prior to lessons.
• Provides direct instructional support to students under supervision of a certified special education teacher.
• Reinforces academic content in various settings and implements IEP accommodations and modifications.
• Performs progress monitoring and data collection under supervision, and implements BIPs with fidelity.
• Maintains confidentiality of student records per FERPA and district policies.
