Job summary

The Sumter School District is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional (Academic Tutor) for Pocalla Springs to provide targeted reading and math support under a certified teacher.

A minimum of an Associate's Degree or 60 college credits (or WorkKeys/Paraprofessional test) is required. You will plan instructional activities, monitor student progress, and help maintain a positive learning environment; the 185-day term follows the district pay schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's Degree or 60 college credits, or approved alternative to meet Highly Qualified under ESSA.

Responsibilities

• Provides individualized instruction to identified students and small groups in reading and mathematics under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Assists the teacher with planning instructional activities to meet students' needs in reading and mathematics.
• Advises teachers about students' progress throughout intervention.
• Helps retrieve performance data of students to analyze intervention effectiveness and progress.
• Maintains a positive learning environment under guidance of a certified teacher.
• Works cooperatively and respectfully with colleagues.
