Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Tissue Bank Technician to support aseptic tissue recovery and processing operations. You will collect samples, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliant handling of donor materials in a hospital setting.

This role requires a high school diploma and familiarity with anatomy; CTBS or related certifications are preferred. Prior OR or tissue handling experience is valued; training covers dissection, labeling, packaging, and biohazard documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or CTBS certification preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technician, EMT, Eye Bank Technician, RN, or LPN preferred.
• Operating room experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of anatomy and surgical techniques required.

Responsibilities

• Performs aseptic recovery of tissue according to policies and procedures.
• Lifts, positions and transports donors and uses Surgical Sterile Technique as needed.
• Collects blood samples from donors and labels/packages/ships to lab.
• Maintains donor and tissue records under QA supervision.
• Packages and arranges for pick-up of biohazard material and documents disposal.
