Job summary

New England Donor Services seeks a Tissue Recovery Specialist to join a clinical team focused on aseptically recovering tissues from deceased donors in a surgical setting.

You will be on-call for extended shifts, with orientation at a Waltham, MA site and travel across New England. Candidates should be competent in handling heavy physical tasks, possess a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or minimum 2 years professional experience.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team in a surgical setting to aseptically remove tissues from deceased donors.
• Train to handle bones, skin, veins, corneas, heart valves and other tissues.
• On-call full-time shifts; 14-day cycles with 12- or 24-hour shifts.
• Travel within New England in NEDS vehicles; long hours of driving may be required.

Job Description

You have the opportunity to advance your healthcare career atNew England Donor Servicesby joining a dynamic, professional team whose mission is to save and enhance lives through tissue donation.

As aTissue Recovery Specialistyou will become a member of a professional team working in a surgical setting where you will be trained to asepticallyremove bones, skin, veins, corneas, heart-for-valves and additional tissuesfrom deceased donors, while developing your technical skills in ways you never imagined possible.

Schedule:As a full-time employee you will be on-call for 7 shifts (2 shifts are 12 hours (on-call) and 5 shifts are 24 hours (on-call)) within a 14 day period. Shifts start at 10:00am or 10:00pm. The work schedule is varied and includes overnights, some holidays and every other weekend. Additional mandatory training and meetings required.

Orientation:During the first few weeks, travel to the Waltham, MA site will be required for orientation and training purposes. Approximately 3 days a week for the first 3-4 weeks will be required.

Travel:This position is based in Vernon, CT. However, you will travel throughout New England in NEDS vehicles. Must be comfortable with long periods of driving.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, disciplined, detail oriented, independent, adaptable, team oriented and possess the stamina required to succeed in this intense and rewarding clinical setting.
