UAB Medicine in Mobile, Alabama seeks a Per Diem Tissue Procurement Technician to support the Procurement Team under supervision, handling the procurement, packaging, and transport of bone, soft tissue, and heart to designated tissue processors. This role includes on-call status.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and at least one year of medical, surgical, EMT, or nursing experience; familiarity with anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterile fields is preferred.

• Minimum 1 year medical, surgical, EMT or nursing experience.
• Educational experience in nursing and/or medical school may be considered.
• Familiarity with anatomy, aseptic technique, sterile fields and surgical instruments preferred.
• Experience in orthopaedics is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured for company vehicles.
• May be required to drive personal vehicle.
• Liability coverage requirements: $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Procure, package, and transport bone, soft tissue, and heart for valve distribution to tissue processors.
• Provide administrative support and participate in on-call status as needed.

Job Description

The Per Diem Tissue Procurement Technician will report directly to the LOH Tissue Manager for all administrative support. Under direct supervision of the Procurement Team Leader, the Per Diem Tissue Procurement Technician is responsible for assistance in the procurement, packaging, and transportation of bone, soft tissue, and heart for valve for distribution to the designated tissue processor. Responsibilities include on-call status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• One (1) year medical, surgical, EMT or nursing experience required.
• Educational experience in nursing and/or medical school program may be considered.
• Familiarity with anatomy, aseptic technique, principles of sterile fields, and surgical instruments is preferred.
• Experience in the field of orthopaedics is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured for company vehicles.
• May be required to drive personal vehicle.
