Job summary

PETES TIRE BARNS INC in Rutland, VT is seeking a Tire Technician to perform tire repairs, replacements and routine service for passenger cars, light trucks and related equipment. You will remove or mount tires and ensure proper paperwork and safety procedures are followed.

You will operate balance machines, lifts, air tools and other shop equipment, communicate work performed, and uphold customer satisfaction as a priority.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Driver's License & clean driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Change tires for passenger vehicles, light trucks, loaders and equipment as needed.
  • Perform tire repairs, replacements and general tire/wheel service.
  • Remove or replace mounted tire assemblies from vehicles.
  • Recognize repairable tires and perform repairs or discard unrepairable tires.
  • Document all work accurately on tags, work orders or invoices.
  • Operate shop equipment safely and efficiently, while following safety rules.
  • Report tool or equipment issues and any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Perform daily maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Review service orders to ensure complete customer information and required repairs.
  • Ensure all products leave with proper paperwork and perform miscellaneous duties to support service.
  • Maintain a customer-first attitude and adapt to changing priorities.

Job description

Job Location: Rutland VT - Rutland, VT 05701

Salary Range: $19.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Requirements
  • Responsible for changing primarily passenger, light truck, loader, farm, ATV and/or lawn and garden
  • Perform tire repairs, replacements, and general service to tires and wheels
  • Remove or replace mounted tire assembly from vehicles
  • Ability to recognize repairable tires and properly perform repair and discard tires that are not repairable
  • Communicate all work performed via legible writing on tags, work orders and/or invoices
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Use all provided safety equipment such as gloves, jack stands, wheel chocks, air cages, safety glasses and communicate equipment needs
  • Report all tools or equipment that need repair or that are broken and report all unsafe actions, problems or abnormal situations to the store manager or safety manager
  • Perform daily maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Review service work orders for complete information such as required customer information, repairs, mounts, new tires, valves before giving to the store manager
  • Ensure that all products leave with proper paperwork
  • As needed, perform miscellaneous job duties to ensure prompt services to our customer
  • Willing to make customer satisfaction a number one priority, must be flexible and understand that job priorities will constantly change due to customer needs
  • Equipment: Capable of operating lift gates, service tools, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, air guns, air gauges, mounting and balancing machines, and computer and office equipment
Physical Demands

Exerts 75 to 125 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands), and identifies and distinguishes colors. Occasionally climbs (ascends or descends ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like), balances. Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs and spine), and kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees).
