Job description

TPG is seeking motivated, dependable and safe Tire Technicians to mount and dismount tires for an automotive supplier in San Angelo, TX.

The Tire Technician is required to mount and dismount test tires for passenger and commercial test vehicles such as cars and trucks. These technicians also may need to handle tire work for off-the-road vehicles such as all-terrain vehicles, forklifts and utility vehicles.

The Tire Technician will be responsible for the following.
  • Primarily are responsible for the safe and proper mounting and dismounting of test tires used on test vehicles.
  • Additionally, maintain the inventory of test tires on-hand at this test facility.
  • May also be called upon to handle waste tires to insure they are properly disposed of per EPA and company Regulations.
  • May be called upon to assist in the evaluation of test experimental and sample production tires to determine cause of failure and wear ability issues.
  • Any other duties assigned by manager.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Skill Development:
  • Must have a solid technical understanding of tire and wheel assembly design and construction.
  • Should possess strong communication skills.
  • Be proficient in the basic use of computers.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Be detail oriented and manage time well.
  • Manual dexterity and control precision.
Safety:
  • Must be able to move/lift to 100 lbs. every day all day long.
  • Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
  • Able to stand for long periods at a time, along with some walking, lifting, pulling and pushing through the shift.
  • Good close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Job Specifications Required:
  • A high school diploma or GED certificate is required.
  • A valid State of Texas driver's license.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver and operate all required motor vehicles assigned to this job function, which may include automobiles, commercial trucks, product transport type vehicles, i.e. forklifts. These requirements may require on-site training furnished by the Client.
  • Must have the physical and mental agility to handle all sizes and weights of wheel assemblies and to be able to handle tools required to mount and dismount wheel assemblies safely.
  • Ability to push and pull heavier tires with equipment (i.e., tractor-trailer commercial tires weighing up to 487 lbs.).
  • Coordination of normal mental dexterity and visual attention. Must have good vision, hearing and motor skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Must demonstrate good team skills, and the ability to work with and learn from others.
Schedule:
  • Able to adjust work schedule and work overtime as necessary.
Important Items:
  • Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free and pass hair follicle drug screen.
