Job summary

Pinal County in Arizona is seeking a Tire Technician to repair and replace tires for vehicles in the field and at county facilities. You will manage tire inventory and coordinate with internal customers to ensure correct tire specifications for different equipment.

Your role supports dependable uptime across 9 county locations with emphasis on safety, efficiency, and teamwork. Heavy lifting and field service are integral parts of the job, with ongoing training and compliance expectations.

Qualifications

  • Repair and replace automotive and heavy construction equipment tires in the shop as well as in the field.
  • Perform emergency field service tire repair and replacement as needed.
  • Manage tire inventory levels to maintain equipment and vehicle uptime at 9 county locations.
  • Work with internal customers to determine the proper specifications for tire application.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace automotive and heavy construction equipment tires in the shop as well as in the field, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Perform emergency field service tire repair and replacement as needed.
  • Assist mechanics with repair projects as requested.
  • Place and receive order for semi and heavy equipment tires.
  • Manage tire inventory levels to maintain equipment and vehicle uptime at 9 county locations.
  • Work with internal customers to determine the proper specifications for tire application.
  • Manage tire casings sent out for retreading; track how many times a casing can be retreaded before casing is no longer usable and determine which brands will provide the best casings for retreading.
  • Work with retread vendor to analyze retread failure rate and make follow-up recommendations.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure service is adequate for the County’s needs.
  • Maintain shop, yard, and equipment in clean and orderly condition.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform skilled labor in the repair and routine servicing of tires for vehicles in the field and is responsible for managing, organizing, and coordinating tire inventory.

Work in this classification requires an individual to be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.   • Follow all safety rules and regulations and closely follows verbal and written instructions. Report safety hazards, equipment repair needs, and security and emergency situations.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is very heavy work and requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the ability to climb, crawl, crouch, finger, grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, pull, push, speak, hear, stand, stoop, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity. May be subject to random drug testing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in the field with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in bodily harm. The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the first quartile require additional approval.
