Job summary

Nokian Tyres is seeking a Tire Materials Engineer in Dayton, TN, to identify process improvements, drive material innovations, and support efficient, sustainable tire production. You will lead development of rubber compounds and reinforcement materials, collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain.

The role emphasizes robust material performance, Lean practices, and continuous improvement to ensure high quality and yield in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years industrial/manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years hands-on tire industry experience.
• MBA/MS preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Identify process improvements and new materials.
• Lead development, validation, and implementation of raw materials and rubber compounds.
• Improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and profitability.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and global standards.
• Support new product introductions with robust processes.
• Promote Lean manufacturing and 5S practices.
• Share knowledge and provide technical support across the organization.
