Repair Technician - Job Description

Summary

Performs basic inspections, diagnostic and mechanic services for automobiles and light trucks, ensuring optimal customer service and adherence to safety regulations when operating machinery, equipment, and tools. Inventories and requisitions stock and supplies and assists in facility maintenance.

Essential Job Functions

• Utilizes tire balancer and tire machine to mount and balance tires, repair flats, perform tire rotations, and conduct diagnostic tests for tire wear and vibration.
• Maintains knowledge of tire lines for inventory, procedures, stock inquiries, and shipping/receiving.
• Performs LOF and visual inspections, including under hood, under car, and wheel off.
• Performs basic removal and replacement tasks such as battery, filters, wipers, headlamps, and bulbs.
• Performs alignments and flushes cooling systems, power steering, and transmission using appropriate equipment.
• Conducts basic diagnostics, recognizing noise or vibration issues post-road test.
• Assists with facility maintenance, including opening, closing, cleaning, and general upkeep.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS

Operates equipment such as tire machines, lifts, impact guns, torque wrenches, and other tools necessary for Tire & Alignment Technician roles safely and effectively.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements include:

• Basic automotive services knowledge, including starting and charging systems, tire knowledge, maintenance, and basic diagnostics.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, manuals, and write routine reports.

Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability

Ability to perform basic math operations and solve practical problems with limited standardization, including interpreting instructions in various formats.

Physical Demands

Regularly standing, walking, using hands and fingers, speaking, and listening. Frequently reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Occasionally seated, climbing, balancing, tasting, smelling. Must lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly, up to 75 lbs frequently, and 75-100 lbs occasionally. Visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Typically full-time, 40 hours/week, including Saturdays and occasional evenings. Travel may be required. Exposure to moving parts, fumes, chemicals, electrical shock, vibration, weather, and loud noise is common.
