Job summary

St. Lucie Battery & Tire is seeking a Tire and Lube Technician to perform general vehicle repairs, maintenance and diagnosis in our Florida shop. You will service customer vehicles, use diagnostic tools, and conduct tire repairs and maintenance, oil changes, and battery checks.

The role requires safety-conscious work, teamwork and strong communication. Experience with tire service, mechanical skills, and the ability to lift heavy objects is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year work experience in lube/tire technician duties preferred.
• Must demonstrate working understanding of tire/lube service procedures and mechanical skills.
• Strong customer service and effective communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Service customer vehicles with quality workmanship.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify problems with engines and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Perform tire repairs, including sealing punctures and replacing valve stems.
• Install and perform tire maintenance.
• Oil change and/or transmission service and filters.

Job description

The Tire and Lube Technician is responsible for performing general vehicle repairs, maintenance and diagnosis.

• Service customer vehicles while ensuring quality workmanship.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify problems with vehicles, including engine, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Perform tire repairs, including sealing punctures and replacing valve stems.
• Install and perform tire maintenance.
• Perform oil change and/or transmission service and filters.
• Road test vehicles.
• Ensure the service center is clean and safe.
• Install batteries and check electrical systems.
• Must use PPE, dollies, jacks, hoists, lifts and various tools in accordance with proper use and safety guidelines.
• Use proper ergonomics when lifting to avoid strains.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.

• Strong customer service skills and effective communication are essential.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

• Driver's License, unrestricted.
• Maintain TIA & ALI certification upon training received.

Work Environment/Expectations:

• Work will occur in well-lit, well-ventilated repair shop locations.
• Exposure is grease, car exhaust and chemicals is expected.
• Background noise from coworkers, vehicles and various tools is expected.
• Must wear required uniform.

Physical Requirements:

• Bending, squatting and working under vehicles is expected.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds routine ly.
• Use of power tools and mechanic parts are used daily.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to walk, talk, listen and speak clearly.
• Use of fine motor skills is expected.
• Must be able to raise arms above the head and shoulders for extended periods of time.
