Job summary

Gills Point S Tire & Auto is hiring a Tire & Lube Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, ensuring every customer leaves with confidence in safety and performance.

You will perform tire services, preventative maintenance, and basic mechanical repairs, greet customers professionally, explain inspection findings, and keep accurate service documentation. A team‑oriented attitude and willingness to learn are essential, with training and advancement opportunities provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift heavy tires and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Mount, dismount, balance, rotate, and repair tires.
• Inspect tires for wear and proper inflation.
• Perform oil and fluid changes and replace filters.
• Perform light mechanical repairs (brakes, suspension, steering).
• Greet customers, explain findings, and document services.

What You\'ll Do

As a Tire & Lube Technician, you\'ll inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles while ensuring every customer leaves with confidence in the safety and performance of their vehicle.

Tire Services

• Mount, dismount, balance, rotate, and repair passenger and light truck tires.
• Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
• Recommend tire replacement and maintenance based on vehicle condition.
• Perform TPMS service and understand wheel configurations, bolt patterns, valve stems, and tire specifications.

Preventative Maintenance

• Perform oil and filter changes.
• Inspect and top off vehicle fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid.
• Perform coolant, brake, and transmission fluid exchanges.
• Replace air, cabin, and fuel filters.
• Complete comprehensive vehicle inspections and communicate findings.

Basic Mechanical Repairs

• Perform light mechanical repairs and replacements, including:
  • Brakes
  • Suspension components
  • Steering components
  • Wiper blades
  • Batteries
  • Headlights and taillights
• Recognize dashboard warning indicators and identify potential maintenance concerns.

Customer Service

• Greet customers professionally and understand their service needs.
• Explain inspection findings and maintenance recommendations.
• Maintain accurate service documentation.
• Assist with inventory, receiving, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

What We\'re Looking For

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Automotive, tire, or mechanical experience preferred.
• Technical or vocational automotive training is a plus.
• Valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Familiarity with tire mounting, balancing, and repair equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift heavy tires and equipment and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Professional Development

TIA Certification is not required at hire. We\'ll provide the training and support you need to earn your certification and continue advancing your career.

Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 75 pounds, and safely operating shop equipment while working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to perform work both inside the shop and outdoors in varying weather conditions while following all company safety policies.
