Job summary

General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works is seeking a mid-level tinsmith to work in the Tinsmith trade. You will fabricate items from sheet metal and install components on ships according to fabrication drawings and blueprints.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, plus at least one year of tinsmith or carpentry training and one year of metals fabrication or installation experience. Reading blueprints and using hand and power tools, plus accurate tape measure work, are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of technical or vocational training in tinsmith or carpentry trade.
• Minimum 1 year of metals fabrication or installation experience.
• Must be able to read blueprints in detail.
• Experience with sheet metal, hand tools and power tools.
• Must be able to read a tape measure, and perform complex layout with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate items from sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum per sketches and drawings.
• Install items on units or ships, including shelving, guards, tables, and countertops using blueprints.
• Fabricate and install exhaust and intake components for main engines and generators using drawings.
