Job summary

Baillie Lumber Co. seeks a Procurement Forester to manage the full scope of timber procurement for a hardwood lumber operation. The role covers locating, evaluating, costing, and negotiating timber purchases and coordinating harvests to supply logs to multiple sawmills.

The candidate should hold an A.S. in Forestry (B.S. preferred), possess strong teamwork and communication skills, and maintain a clean driving record for field duties. Salary range highlights are provided with full benefits.

Qualifications

• A.S. Degree in Forestry or affiliated discipline is required.
• B.S. in Forestry is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere with strong communication.
• Clean driving record is required and essential for field work.
• Proficient mathematical skills and map reading for timber assessment.

Responsibilities

• All aspects of purchasing standing timber including locating and marking boundary lines.
• Cruise standing timber for quantity and appraise timber for quality and value.
• Oversee harvest of standing timber sales and ensure BMPs are used appropriately.
• Ensure boundary lines are observed and assess residual damage; check correct trees are cut.
• Perform title research, pre-crime property qualification, and permit applications for timber purchases.
