Job summary

Dal-Tile, a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries, in Tennessee is seeking a Sorting Technician for the D shift to support sorting, cutting, rectification and wrapper operations. You’ll help maintain a safe, compliant work environment and follow ISO 9001:2008 quality standards while training new hires and coordinating with maintenance for basic care programs.

• Safety, quality and ISO 9001:2008 compliance in sorting operations.
• Ability to train new hires on safety policies and equipment.
• Willingness to coordinate with maintenance for operator basic care programs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for sorting, cutting, rectification and wrapper areas.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols across the plant.
• Follow ISO 9001:2008 quality management systems in sorting operations.
• Assist in safety training and audits as needed.
• Review BC and Pack-Stock audits with operations and audit departments.
• Assist Sorting Supervisor in coordinating sorting, cutting, rectification and wrapper operations.
• Train new hires on safety, quality policy and equipment knowledge.
• Collaborate with maintenance to sustain operator care programs.
• Learn pallet and LGV scheduling and assist the plant LGV coordinator.

Job Duties:

• Helps to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for Sorting, Cutting, Rectification and Wrapper areas.
• Ensures all safety protocols throughout the plant are adhered to.
• Follows the Quality Management System, which is certified to ISO 9001:2008 for all sorting operations.
• Performs necessary LOTO audits and assists in delivering weekly safety training materials.
• Ensures product specifications are followed throughout the Sorting Department.
• Responsible for reviewing BC and Pack-Stock audits both with the operations and audit departments.
• Assist the Sorting Supervisor in coordinating the operations of sorting, cutting, rectification, and wrapper areas.
• Responsible for training of all new hires in regards to safety, quality policy and management systems, as well as operations of all sorting equipment and product knowledge.
• Responsible for working with maintenance team to develop and sustain operator basic care programs.
• Fill-in and relief responsibility for all sorting job functions.
• Understanding of pallet and box LGV programs, and utilizing the system to assist the plant LGV coordinator with scheduling duties
• Other duties as needed.
