Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in TIG welding (GTAW) on pipe and plate.
• Strong fitting skills and ability to read blueprints.
• Must pass a 6G pipe weld test (first attempt); second attempt allowed at candidate’s expense.
• 2–3 years of experience in pressure vessel, piping, or code fabrication preferred.
• Experience with stainless steel, chrome-moly, and purge/backing gas techniques.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Read fabrication drawings, weld maps, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs).
• Fit up pipe, fittings, flanges, and chambers to precise tolerances including tacking, alignment, and squaring.
• Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys as required.
• Weld in compliance with ASME Section VIII and IX standards, following approved WPS parameters.
• Conduct self-inspection of welds and assemblies, ensuring tests are met (visual, dye penetrant, hydrostatic, radiographic).
• Maintain traveler and weld records for full traceability of all work performed.
• Keep work area organized, clean, and safe.
• Collaborate with other shop staff to meet production goals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
