Qualifications

• Welding certification from technical school with 1 year of TIG welding experience.
• Ability to achieve and maintain certification per Mil-Std-278 welding and brazing standards.
• Ability to read and understand structural drawings, schematics and operating manuals.
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary function test.
• Ability to perform calculations such as percentages, ratios and fractions.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn manufacturing systems and software.
• Knowledge of air and gas compressors and generators.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person; may require DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality TIG welding and brazing on compressors, generators, and related components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, schematics and technical specs.
• Maintain safety policies, PPE, ventilation, and safe handling of materials.
• Set up and operate TIG welding equipment with correct filler materials and shielding gas.
• Inspect welds for quality and conformance; correct defects as needed.
• Maintain welding equipment and work areas in safe condition.
• Contribute to cost control and efficiency through proper use of materials and tools.
• Monitor material usage and notify supervisors of supply levels.
• Communicate effectively across departments and participate in cross-training.
