Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in La Porte, Indiana is seeking an experienced TIG Welder for 2nd or 3rd shift to perform production welding and weld repair on castings, dies, molds, fixtures, and equipment per weld procedures and customer specs.

Responsibilities include Class A welds, fixture welding, and copper backup fabrication, using GTAW with a power source and torch. Training on 1st shift prior to transition; the role requires at least two years of TIG experience.

Qualifications

• High Diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Minimum of two years TIG experience.
• Proficient in manual GTAW with remote foot control.

Responsibilities

• Weld repair / production weld castings to Class A requirements (FPI and X-Ray acceptance).
• Occasional maintenance and fixture welding on alloys including aluminum.
• Fabrication of copper backups used to perform welds.
• Operate AC/DC power source and welding torch components.
• Determine weld wire alloy designation, sizes and gas settings.

Howmet Aerospace is looking for a TIG Welder in LaPorte, IN for **2nd **and **3rd **Shifts! This role will work to production weld and/or weld repair castings, dies, molds, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment per weld procedures and customer specifications.**Salary**The starting rate is $27.07/hr., after 12 months - $28.39/hr.**Schedule**Training will be Monday-Friday on 1st Shift (6am-2pm) for up to 6 months. After training, will transition to 2nd (2pm-10pm) or 3rd Shift (10pm-6am).**Job Responsibilities**Weld repair / production weld (fabrication weld) castings to "Class A" requirements (FPI and X-Ray acceptance).Occasional maintenance and fixture welding on various alloys including aluminum.Fabrication of copper backups used to perform welds.Operate all aspects of the production AC/DC power source and all components of the weld torch that are used to perform the job.Determine weld wire alloy designation and sizes.Determine correct power source parameters.Determine gas settings for welding torch and backupsBlend welds for repair / production weld castingsAll weld blenders will be required to prep weld as needed.All weld blenders will be required to perform finishing, rework, and metal cleaning as needed associated with a metal cell operator (MCO).Basic QualificationsHigh Diploma required or GED equivalency required.This position requires a minimum of two years of TIG experience.Preferred QualificationsWelding Vocational Training preferred.Proficient in manual Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) with remote foot control.You should be proficient in:SolderingWelding Setups for ProductionBlueprint ReadingMachines & technologies you'll use:TIG Welder
