Job summary

Martinrea is seeking a welding technician to ensure customer quality requirements are met while welding materials into parts. The role requires welding fundamentals, experience with GMAW/GTAW, and familiarity with robotics.

Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and ability to work shifts are essential. The position involves welding parameter setup, weld inspections, data analysis, and supporting quality audits.

Qualifications

  • Preferred to have a current AWS certificate; in-house certification possible.
  • Solid understanding of welding fundamentals and processes.
  • Experience with manual GMAW and GTAW welding.
  • Experience working with industrial robots or robotic welding machines preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and teamwork mindset.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime on short notice.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and basic metrology.
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of GD&T and CMM.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding to meet customer and quality requirements for Martinrea parts.
  • Establish and maintain welding parameters to support production and QA.
  • Conduct weld inspections and analyze weld data; generate reports.
  • Assist with robotic weld touchups and setup.
  • Support quality audits and continuous improvement activities.
  • Train production personnel on quality requirements as needed.
  • Cover for other technicians when absent.
  • Maintain weld setup instructions and inspection records.

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring Martinrea and Customer quality requirements are met while welding materials into parts.

Required Education And Experience
  • Preferred to have a current AWS certificate - can ceritfy in house if not AWS certified
  • Sound understanding of Welding fundamentals
  • Manual GMAW experience / GTAW
  • Working experience with industrial robots - or robotic welding machines preferred
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Must be willing to work shifts and be flexible (including overtime on short notice)
  • Ability to work well with fellow team members and promote "Team" concept
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Basic knowledge and use of measuring equipment
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Understanding of Core Skills and basic GD&T
  • Basic understanding of CMM
Essential Functions
  • Perform all duties and promote them in a manner that reflects the Martinrea Expectations, through Martinrea Employee Charter.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Support Buy offs when required
  • Keep the product cleaned up in quarantine
  • Establish, maintain and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality Assurance
  • Conducts weld inspection and analyze weld data, generate reports
  • Assist with Robotic weld touchups
  • Maintain a sound understanding of customers' product and engineering specifications
  • Participate in problem solving activities
  • Participate in Product, System and Process Audits as required
  • Assist in the training of production personnel in all quality requirements when required
  • Attend and or Champion quality meetings when requested
  • Provide support to all Departments for weld related issues
  • Cover for the other Technicians if he/she is absent
  • Generating and upkeep of the Weld Set up Instructions, Weld Inspection Records and Weld Length records
  • Ability to work well in a team environment or individually
  • Audit and approve Special Material Requests and reworked material when required
  • Initiate and coordinate problem reports and containments
  • Buy off of the First-Off / Mid-Off processes, and set up verifications to ensure it is being done correctly
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to achieve results
  • Take initiative to follow through on completion of tasks / projects, PMR's and CIP'sAbide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Compliance with Company polices concerning applicable laws

  • Flexible hours as required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to be present on the production floor on a daily basis
Health And Safety
  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
