Job summary

Martinrea in Riverside, MO, seeks a Weld Quality Technician to ensure customer quality needs are met as welding materials are joined into parts.

The position requires an AWS certificate, welding metallurgy knowledge, NDE basics, and GMAW/robotic welding experience. You will set welding parameters, inspect welds, analyze data, and contribute to PPAP and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an active AWS certificate.
  • Solid understanding of welding metallurgy principles.
  • Fundamental knowledge of NDE techniques.
  • Experience with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and allied processes.
  • Proficiency with industrial robotics in welding.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with ISO/TS 16949 and PPAP concepts is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Martinrea and customer quality requirements are met in welding.
  • Establish and maintain welding parameters to support production and QA.
  • Perform weld inspections and analyze weld data to generate reports.
  • Assist with robotic weld touchups and Paxit archiving.
  • Support audits, PPAP packages, and cross-functional problem solving.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies.

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring Martinrea and Customer quality requirements are met while

welding materials into parts.

Required Education & Experience
  • Must have a current AWS certificate
  • Sound understanding of Welding Metallurgy
  • Fundamental understanding of NDE techniques
  • Sound understanding of Gas Metal Arc Welding, Projection and Resistance Welding
  • Manual GMAW experience
  • Working experience with industrial robots
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Must be willing to work shifts and be flexible (including overtime on short notice)
  • Ability to work well with fellow team members and promote "Team" concept
  • Basic knowledge of ISO/TS 16949:2002 an asset
  • Basic knowledge and use of measuring equipment
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Understanding of Core Skills and basic GD&T
  • Basic understanding of CMM
Essential Functions/Competency Level
  • Perform all duties and promote them in a manner that reflects the Martinrea Expectations, through Martinrea Employee Charter.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Support the WEC's on new and existing programs
  • Support Buy offs when required
  • Keep the product cleaned up in quarantine
  • Establish, maintain, and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality Assurance
  • Conducts weld inspection and analyze weld data, generate reports
  • Assist with Robotic weld touchups
  • Archiving and maintaining Paxit system
  • Be dedicated to generating and or assisting in PPAP packages when required
  • Maintain a sound understanding of customers' product and engineering specifications
  • Participate in problem solving activities
  • Participate in Product, System and Process Audits as required
  • Assist in the training of production personnel in all quality requirements when required
  • Provide support to all Departments for weld related issues
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems, HR policies and Martinrea Employee Handbook
