Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Director III to lead TIERS cybersecurity operations, directing SOC activities, SIEM strategy, vulnerability management, and incident response for a critical benefits system serving Texans.

As a senior leader, you will collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, privacy, and program teams to embed security across the TIERS lifecycle and drive a mature defensive posture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience.
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role within Security Operations.
• Experience managing SIEM, vulnerability management, and incident response programs.
• Experience securing large, mission-critical enterprise applications.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for SOC operations protecting the TIERS environment.
• Establish security strategy, priorities, and performance metrics with cyber objectives.
• Direct advanced threat detection, triage, investigation, and response activities.
• Lead cyber incident command for TIERS events and cross-functional coordination.
• Ensure continuous monitoring across application, database, identity, network, and cloud layers.
• Mature SOC processes through automation and intelligence-driven defense.
• Deliver executive briefings on major incidents to leadership.
