Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery in North Smithfield, RI seeks an experienced Custom Cake & Tiered Specialist Decorator to create high-quality custom, specialty, and tiered cakes. This is an advanced, hands-on role requiring strong technical skills and the ability to execute detailed designs independently after orientation.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of professional decorating experience, a keen eye for detail, and strong organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional cake decorating experience.
• Experience producing custom, specialty, and tiered cakes.
• Proficient in advanced decorating techniques.
• Ability to work independently after orientation.
• Strong artistic judgment and attention to detail.
• Excellent organization and time management.
• Ability to read and execute detailed customer orders.
• Flexible with schedule in a fast-paced bakery.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Portfolio of cake work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete custom and specialty orders accurately and on time.
• Produce tiered cakes with proper preparation, support, assembly, stacking, finishing, and decoration.
• Review order details for flavor, filling, frosting, colors, design, inscription, and finishing elements.
• Apply advanced decorating techniques (smooth/rustic finishes, piping/borders, buttercream flowers, inscriptions, airbrushing, fondant).
• Work with whipped cream and various frostings.
• Prioritize time-sensitive orders using production lists and reports.
• Inspect finished products for accuracy, stability, and presentation.
• Communicate discrepancies, supply needs, and quality issues promptly.
• Coordinate with Decorating, Finishing, and Retail teams to support flow.
• Maintain clean, sanitary workspace and follow SOPs and allergen controls.
