A leading defense contractor in Springfield, VA is seeking a Tier II Network Technician to support LAN/WAN installations and maintenance. The ideal candidate must hold a TS/SCI clearance and have 10 years of relevant experience. Job Description

Tier II Network Technician in the Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos supports computer data communications systems, providing design specifications, testing, inspections, planning and implementing upgrades, and analyzing and organizing hardware‑software solutions through network modeling.

Job Duties

• The Tier II network field technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
• Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
• Draft and implement standard network change requests.
• Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment).
• Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
• Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process).
• Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
• Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, Thin Configs).
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade and Foundry OS.
• Familiar (doesn’t need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE. Familiar with Visio, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
• May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities.

Requirements

• Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education (Doctorate + 3 years, Master’s + 4 years, Bachelor’s + 6 years, Associate’s + 8 years, HS Diploma + 10 years).
• Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI model.
• Working knowledge of basic routing fundamentals.
• Ability to travel 25 % of the time.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Requires office presence minimum 5 days per week; located in the posted location(s). No relocation offered.
