Job summary

Oneida ESC Group in Fort Meade, MD is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Defense Information School IT environment. The role focuses on administering Windows Server and Linux/UNIX systems, patch management, backups, and securing enterprise services in a mission-critical setting.

You will troubleshoot complex issues, implement DISA STIG baselines, prepare technical documentation, and coordinate with other teams during deployments and security remediations.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Windows Server and Linux/UNIX operating environments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise systems administration, infrastructure support, and system lifecycle management.
• Experience supporting network infrastructure testing, implementation, and operational activities.
• Knowledge of backup technologies, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity principles.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues involving servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
• Experience installing and maintaining software updates, security patches, and vendor releases.
• Experience implementing and maintaining DISA STIG-compliant security baselines.
• Experience developing and deploying operating system images and standardized workstation configurations.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and systems security best practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle Complex or Long-Running Support Issues - troubleshoot problems requiring deeper investigation and act as escalation point.
• Perform Vulnerability Remediation - review failed patches, remediate, and ensure DoW compliance.
• Maintain Technical Procedures and Documentation - create/update SOPs and templates used by Service Desk.
• Support Device Security Requirements - develop security configurations including STIGs for non-managed devices.
• Coordinate Advanced IT Support - IT point of contact for visits, events, VIP requirements.
• Investigate Recurring Technical Problems - review incidents to identify root causes and permanent fixes.
• Review and Improve Service Desk Troubleshooting - identify gaps and enhance guidance/tools.
• Prepare Technical Escalations - gather logs and details before referral to other teams.
• Review Aging and Unresolved Tickets - move towards resolution or escalation.
• Provide Back-of-House Technical Support - focus on escalated issues and documentation.
