Job summary

Aretec, Inc. is seeking an early-career cybersecurity professional to join its SOC team as a Tier 1 Analyst. You will monitor security events, triage indicators of threats, and assist Tier 2 analysts with investigations in a remote, federally focused environment.

You will build foundational skills in SIEM, log analysis, incident reporting, and continuous monitoring while collaborating with experienced colleagues on national security projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3 years of relevant experience (education or internship accepted).
• Foundational understanding of network security and cybersecurity tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a desire to learn from senior team members.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, review, and analyze system alerts and network activity for indicators of potential threats.
• Identify suspicious events and escalate as needed to Tier 2 analysts.
• Document incidents, findings, and recommended actions in ticketing and tracking systems.
• Assist in the preparation of incident reports and security summaries.
• Support maintenance of SOC documentation, processes, and standard operating procedures.
• Contribute to continuous monitoring initiatives and improvements to detection workflows.
• Learn and apply core cybersecurity tools and methodologies through hands-on SOC experience.

What We're Looking For: We are seeking a Tier 1 Analyst to support enterprise SOC operations by monitoring and analyzing security events and assisting in the early stages of incident detection. This role serves as the first line of defense in identifying, triaging, and escalating security events within a dynamic operational environment. The Tier 1 Analyst works under direct supervision and supports higher-tier analysts in investigation and response activities.

Role Expectation: Individual contributor representing the most common entry point for technical employees; works under direct supervision. Resolves technical problems that are typically not difficult or complex. Works under supervision on less complex projects or assignments. Develops products, solutions, and processes using basic principles, theories, and concepts within own technical specialty. Requires basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of a narrow technical domain.

Must Have's:

• Bachelor's degree or 3 additional years of relevant experience (education or internship experience accepted).
• Foundational understanding of network security and cybersecurity tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a desire to learn from senior team members.
• Applicants must currently hold and maintain an active Secret clearance.
• Remote position.
