SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position involves greeting the public, answering questions in a knowledgeable and courteous manner.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Daily batching: ticketing, verifying special requests, processing documents and reservations.
- Answering phones and taking reservations.
- Providing information and additional services to guests to enhance their experience with Gettysburg Scenic Railway.
- Greeting arriving guests and walk-up customers; making reservations as needed.
- Following all cash handling policies and procedures.
- Calling customers to advise of event changes and/or cancellations as required.
- Responding to customer inquiries with accurate, up-to-date information.
- Providing superior customer service.
- Maintaining current knowledge of all events, services, and procedures through reviewing event information sheets and communication.
- Providing First Aid/CPR/AED in emergencies.
- Resolving customer conflicts with strong customer service skills.
- Communicating effectively with coworkers and the public.
- Dealing professionally, courteously, and tactfully with the public and coworkers.
- Working nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during the Fall peak season.
- Performing light administrative duties.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Proven customer service experience
- Friendly, courteous phone demeanor
- Excellent communication skills
- Cash management/POS experience helpful
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn and operate a Point of Sale system
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision
- Valid Driver’s License
- Willing to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Passing background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening

Physical Demands/Work Environment
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing steps, handling objects, reaching, writing, talking, typing, and hearing. Occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting/moving up to 35 lbs.
