Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position involves greeting the public, answering questions in a knowledgeable and courteous manner.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Daily batching: ticketing, verifying special requests, processing documents and reservations.
  • Answering phones and taking reservations.
  • Providing information and additional services to guests to enhance their experience with Gettysburg Scenic Railway.
  • Greeting arriving guests and walk-up customers; making reservations as needed.
  • Following all cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Calling customers to advise of event changes and/or cancellations as required.
  • Responding to customer inquiries with accurate, up-to-date information.
  • Providing superior customer service.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of all events, services, and procedures through reviewing event information sheets and communication.
  • Providing First Aid/CPR/AED in emergencies.
  • Resolving customer conflicts with strong customer service skills.
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers and the public.
  • Dealing professionally, courteously, and tactfully with the public and coworkers.
  • Working nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during the Fall peak season.
  • Performing light administrative duties.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Proven customer service experience
  • Friendly, courteous phone demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Cash management/POS experience helpful
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn and operate a Point of Sale system
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willing to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Passing background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing steps, handling objects, reaching, writing, talking, typing, and hearing. Occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting/moving up to 35 lbs.
