Job description

Summary of Position:

This position involves meeting and greeting the public, answering questions in a knowledgeable and courteous manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Daily batching, ticketing, verifying special requests, and processing documents and reservations.
  2. Answering phones and taking reservations via phone.
  3. Providing information and additional services to guests to enhance their experience with Gettysburg Scenic Railway.
  4. Greeting arriving guests and walk-up customers; making reservations as needed.
  5. Following all cash handling policies and procedures.
  6. Calling customers to advise of event changes or cancellations as needed.
  7. Responding to customer inquiries with accurate and up-to-date information.
  8. Providing superior customer service.
  9. Maintaining current knowledge of all events, services, and procedures.
  10. Providing First Aid/CPR/AED in emergencies.
  11. Resolving customer conflicts with strong customer service skills.
  12. Communicating effectively with coworkers and the public.
  13. Dealing professionally and courteously with the public and coworkers.
  14. Working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak seasons.
  15. Performing light administrative duties.
  16. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Friendly and courteous phone demeanor.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Cash management/POS experience helpful.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and operate a Point of Sale system.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification if not already certified.
  • Ability to pass background checks, pre-employment physical, and drug screens.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing steps, handling objects, reaching, writing, talking, typing, and hearing. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
