Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Lead Store Clerk for their Redding, CA thrift store. This full-time, on-site role reports to the Store Manager and helps run daily store operations, cash handling, merchandising, and customer service to ensure a welcoming shopping environment.

Responsibilities include supervising staff and volunteers, maintaining inventory, stocking clothing and household items, and upholding The Salvation Army standards. Previous retail experience preferred.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Graduate.
• Handling and counting cash with accuracy; knowledge of current clothing trends and styles; merchandising skills, strong customer service skills.
• Familiar with The Salvation Army Western Territory Handbook for Employees; ask supervisor for portions not understood.
• Monitor and control quality and preferences of merchandise for the customer/demographics.
• Display and stock store merchandise; clothing, racks, furniture, glassware; maintain window and wall displays.
• Maintain inventory on the floor and reserve stock in the stockroom; ensure full racks with minimal gaps.

Responsibilities

• Cash handling opening and closing procedures.
• Great customer service with a friendly, polite attitude.
• Keep clothing racks stocked, neat, and orderly.
• Stock household and other miscellaneous items.
• Keep aisles clean, clear, and picked-up.
• Keep shelves clean, orderly and stocked.
• Participate in general store housekeeping (vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning).
• Remove merchandise according to policy and process donations upon request.
• Assist Store Manager in diplomatically handling customer complaints and concerns; uphold Salvation Army standards.
• Interviewing of new applicants; scheduling and supervising personnel, volunteers, and work programs.
