Job summary

The Salvation Army Petersburg Corps is seeking a Part-Time Thrift Store Sorter/Clerk to assist in sorting, tagging and stocking merchandise while handling cash and credit transactions. The role emphasizes excellent customer service and safety compliance.

The position offers 16–25 hours per week and non-exempt status, with duties including maintaining a clean sales floor and supporting donors and customers throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Prior retail experience helpful for stocking and customer service.
• Ability to work with diverse people and communicate effectively.
• Ability to operate cash register, credit card machine and related equipment.
• Assist customers or donors in locating, loading and unloading items.

Responsibilities

• Fills clothing racks and non-clothing areas with fresh merchandise.
• Moves priced items from the warehouse to the sales floor.
• Maintains sales floor in a clean and orderly condition.
• Maintains rag schedule by rotating old merchandise under supervision.
• Operates cash register and credit card machine per procedures.
• Unloads donations in the warehouse and prices items.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
