Job summary

The Salvation Army in Bangor, ME is seeking a Sales Associate to support store and production operations. You will deliver courteous service to customers and donors, assist with cashiering, stocking, and merchandising, and ensure donations are processed and displayed correctly.

You will contribute to a safe, welcoming store environment and collaborate with supervisors and volunteers while following all procedures. This role offers opportunities to grow within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage multiple tasks.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move donations and merchandise as required.
• Flexibility to assist across store functions (cashier, sorting, stocking, cleaning).

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, efficient service to all customers and donors.
• Assist with daily store operations including cashiering, stocking, sorting, pricing, and sales floor upkeep.
• Handle donations with care, sorting and tagging items for display.
• Place items on the sales floor in proper categories and color order.
• Maintain displays and rotate stock according to rag-out calendar.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe, clutter-free store environment.
• Follow all cash handling, security, and operational procedures.
• Report theft, customer concerns, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management immediately.
• Provide guidance to community service workers and volunteers as directed by the Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, or Corps Officer.
