Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst - Threat Researcher at the Associate level. You will independently research cyber threats, vulnerability exploitation pathways, and AI-augmented attacks within SMBC Group's threat intelligence program, with senior review.

You will document evidence, develop visual attack pathways, and support SOC, vulnerability management, and security engineering teams. Role involves collaborating with SOC analysts and other security teams to identify detection,

Qualifications

• Three+ years of cyber threat intelligence, threat research, or threat hunting within a SOC or security program.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and adversary TTPs.
• Ability to assess vulnerability advisories and exploitation reporting, and explain enterprise exposure implications.
• Ability to create clear visual attack pathways or kill chain diagrams.
• Familiarity with threat intelligence sources and security telemetry used in threat analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including evaluating sources and documenting evidence.

Responsibilities

• Research threat actors, malware, and campaigns to identify TTPs and emerging threats in financial services.
• Develop and maintain visual attack pathways mapped to MITRE ATT&CK techniques.
• Map exploitation prerequisites, privilege escalation, and defense intervention points.
• Use threat intelligence platforms and SIEM data to support research and analysis.
• Produce intelligence reports and visualizations for technical and executive audiences.
• Collaborate with SOC, vulnerability management, and security engineering teams to validate exposure and inform remediation priorities.
