Job summary

SMBC is seeking a Vulnerability Management Analyst to strengthen cybersecurity, identify threats, and drive remediation across networks, apps, and infrastructure. The role emphasizes proactive risk assessment, threat research, and collaboration with IT and security teams in a hybrid work environment.

You will configure scans, analyze risks, and report on compliance while improving security posture through continuous tooling improvements and cross-functional partnerships.

Qualifications

• Foundational cybersecurity knowledge from studies, labs, internships, or work experience.
• Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and common network/web attacks related to vulnerability assessment.
• Foundational knowledge of operating systems, networking, web apps, and common infrastructure components.
• Hands-on exposure to vulnerability assessment tools and interpreting scan results.
• Understanding how exploitability, exposure, asset criticality, business impact, and mitigations inform prioritization.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Preferred: Experience coordinating remediation with technology owners and documenting closure evidence.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze data, identify patterns, and summarize findings.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Preferred: Scripting to automate tasks and improve operations.
• Preferred: Knowledge of cloud technologies and containerized environments.

Responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities across SMBC's networks, apps, and infrastructure.
• Configure vulnerability scans and research emerging threats.
• Conduct risk assessments and coordinate remediation within timelines.
• Collaborate with business units to assess risk and improve controls.
• Model attack surface risks and communicate high-risk areas to stakeholders.
• Contribute to vulnerability management reports and metrics.
• Tune tools to expand coverage and reduce false positives.
• Work with Threat Intelligence and Threat Hunting on detections.
