Job summary

Moonshot is seeking an Analyst to support threat intelligence reports monitoring online extremism and targeted violence in the US. You will analyze discourse across online spaces to identify patterns and threats to public officials, vulnerable communities, and critical infrastructure.

You will gather open source data, draft weekly intelligence reports and flash bulletins, and translate findings into clear, evidence-based written products for US-based customers.

Qualifications

• Professional, academic, or independent research experience monitoring extremist or violent online ecosystems.
• Comfort working with content depicting violence and harassment.
• OSINT methods applied to mainstream and fringe social media platforms.
• Strong analytical writing and ability to distinguish evidence from assessment.
• Ability to solve problems, troubleshoot, and develop solutions under tight timelines.
• Experience scanning large data volumes to identify valuable information.
• Experience or interest in using AI tools to support research or writing workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to manage ongoing work independently with minimal oversight.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Continuous monitoring of online spaces relevant to targeted violence to identify threats.
• Drafting weekly intelligence reports and flash bulletins with clear analytic sections.
• Collecting and analyzing information from diverse data sources, including social media and open-source materials.
• Maintaining databases and reviewing social media/messaging platforms for project inclusion.
• Researching and drafting deep dives into trends within online extremist ecosystems.
• Working to demanding, high tempo reporting schedules for clients.
• Developing subject matter expertise on violent extremism and online harms across the organization.
• Participation in client briefings and tailoring delivery to audiences.
• Identifying inefficiencies and proposing process improvements to leadership.
• Building client relationships and supporting business development for new projects.
