Job summary

Moonshot is currently recruiting an Analyst to support threat intelligence reports monitoring online extremism and targeted violence in the US. You will analyze discourse across online spaces to identify patterns and threats to public officials, vulnerable communities, and critical infrastructure.

Candidates must be based in MA, CO, NY, VA, GA, PA, MD, WI, TN, OR, NJ, or DC. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience monitoring extremist or violent online ecosystems.
• Comfort with content depicting violence and harassment.
• OSINT analysis on mainstream and fringe social media platforms.
• Strong analytical writing; distinguish evidence from assessment.
• Ability to solve problems and develop innovative research solutions.
• Able to scan large data volumes and identify valuable information.
• Experience or interest in using AI tools for research or writing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor online spaces related to targeted violence and threats to officials and critical infrastructure.
• Draft weekly intelligence reports and flash bulletins with clear, evidence-based sections.
• Collect and analyze information from diverse data sources, including social media and extremist materials.
• Maintain databases and review social platforms for project inclusion.
• Research and draft deep dives into trends within extremist ecosystems.
• Work to high-tempo reporting schedules for clients.
• Share subject-matter expertise across the organization on violent extremism and online harms.
• Participate in client briefings and tailor delivery to audience familiarity with the subject matter.
• Identify inefficiencies in monitoring/reporting workflows and propose improvements.
• Build relationships with clients and support business development for new projects of interest.
