Job summary

Albany Medical Center in New York is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our Thoracic Surgery team, with inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination across services.

This full-time role includes ICU management, perioperative evaluations, and bedside procedures, with 24/7 in-house coverage. You will assist in thoracic surgeries (including VATS) and coordinate postoperative care, education, and discharge planning with the team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting (CT Surgery strongly preferred).
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for thoracic patients from assessment through surgery and ICU care.
• Assist in diagnosing and surgically managing thoracic diseases including lung cancer and esophageal pathology.
• Perform or assist in thoracic procedures such as VATS and thoracotomy.
• Lead ICU rounds, coordinate postoperative care, and manage complications.
