Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting.
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for thoracic patients from initial assessment through surgery and postoperative care.
• Assist in diagnosis and surgical management of thoracic diseases including lung cancer and mediastinal masses.
• Perform or assist in thoracic procedures such as thoracotomy and VATS.
• Manage critically ill ICU patients including postoperative care and life support.
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and participate in MDT planning.
• Monitor ICU patients on ventilation and hemodynamics; manage fluids and sedation.
• Perform bedside procedures including chest tube insertion and central/arterial lines.
• Interpret imaging and labs to guide surgical and ICU care.
• Participate in daily ICU rounds and thoracic MDT meetings.
• Coordinate postoperative care and monitor for complications and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and recovery expectations.
• Ensure infection control and ICU safety standards.
• Conduct comprehensive inpatient assessments; order/imaging tests and adjust treatment.
• Prescribe medications per current guidelines and participate in inpatient consults.
• Support emergency and inpatient triage and follow-ups.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and health management.
• Serve as a clinical resource and team leader; ensure workflow.
• Ensure accurate documentation and billing.
• Maintain inventory and prepare for procedures.
